Watch the mozzarella fly

flying mozzarella

It's finally online flyingmozzarella.com, weird ecommerce website of a friend of mine; I collaborated to the project writing some parts of the CMS.

If you're interested into typical products from Naples, Italy, brought to you directly at home, you could surf it for a while.

And if you're a nerd maybe you will enjoy the automatic mozzarellifying of the images in paragraphs: it's implemented depicting the image in the background of a table, and putting the mozzarellish masque around it.

It took several workarounds to make it work under IEs, but the results are terrific!

Eyetracking and realtime adaptive rendering

During last lesson of multimedia we learnt about fovea, the small region of eye which has the highest concentration of cones, and therefore responsible for our better central vision.

The amount of space we can sharply recognize due to fovea is about four inches: very smaller than the computer screen itself.

Paraphrasing Sparks: "this is an awful waste of rendering time". So I thought that it could be brilliant to track the eye movement and render at high quality only what's displayed on the fovea.

Well, it's so brilliant that have been already developed. Damn.
