HOWTO fix shared Google calendars not showing up in Android

Google calendar is a simple and useful tool for sharing informations about events and tasks with colleagues. The nice part is that you can gather many calendars and sum them up in a single view. The even nicest part is that everything flows into your android mobile, so you can have a collaborative real-time calendar in your phone.

So, what's the matter? Well, the web-based calendar runs perfectly, but sometimes Android messes up: some calendars, which are correctly shown in Google Calendar, do not appear in Android. Repeating the synchronization does not fix a thing, you have to get dirtier than this.

Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Running > Calendar storage

Then, click "Clear data" and "Force stop". The first one wipes out the local cache; the latter forces the calendar to restart and download the calendars again from the internet.

A bit messy, but it works.

This didnt fix the problem that a SHARED calendar is not syncing. Someone invited me to share a google calendar and its not showing up on my phone.

  5. This was my case, too. In the picture, the first two are shared calendars and they did not show up :)

Can you give me some more information? did you check 'em up in web-based Google Calendar?

Hello, I can't get my past events to show up..What do you suggest?
    Thanks

  9. Hi! I googled around and It seems that there's an hard-coded 1 month limit for past events.

Please read this thread, maybe you'll find some workaround for this issue.

Thanks, this saved me a lot of time trying to figure out why my business appointments weren't showing up. Almost got me in trouble.

  11. I've tried this....but still can't see the shared calendar I set up. Once I clear the storage and then go back and synch the calendar, I'm still only seeing my main google calendar...any thoughts?

  12. Two questions:

    - did you click on "force stop" before syncing?

    - have you correctly set up the missing calendar in the web-based Google Calendar?

I have done all of these things to no avail. The calendar is checked in google, I've cleared, force stopped and sycnhed the android calendar and I still don't see the shared calendar I set up. It works fine on my wifes iphone and ipad, very frustrating. Any additional thoughts?

My problem is that I seem to need to MANUALLY sync it.

Thanks! It worked, although for me the "Calendar Storage" application was not in "running applications". However, I found it in "all applications". Thanks again!

Worked! Thanks so much. Although for me, the "Calendar Storage" application was found in "All" instead of "Running".

This didn't work for me either. I did get it fixed so try this. Open your calendar, open settings, select MORE (you may or may not be exactly set up this way) then choose calendars. You will see a list of those calendars who are sharing with you. You will see the status and it should say whether it's synced, visible etc. I had to tap on the one I'm sharing till it said synced, visible. Once I selected that, I saw my calendar start populating.

worked perfectly, even for shared calendars! Thanks! Samsung Galaxy S3 running Android version 4.1.1

  37. I don't know what anyone is talking about. THIS DOES NOT WORK!!! The only way to fix the problem is a factory reset. IF... And I stress IF you are using Android 2.3.6 there is no fix. I'm not a happy chappy about this, because this is the second time this year that I've had this problem.

It didn't work for me initially, I ended up going to into Applications|All and then following the steps mentioned in this post for each of the three calendar apps on my phone (Calendar, Calendar Storage, and Calendar Widget) After doing that, All my calendars, both mine and shared showed up as they should have. Thanks for the help!!!

    Very helpful - thank you!

I had a shared calendar, which showed up via web but not on the mobile app. Couldn't find answer on Google Help, but this solved the problem.

BTW, for newer Android systems (I've got KitKat 4.4.2), the calendar data storage control function is found at:
    * Settings > Apps > All > Calendar storage

Like everyone else here, I had the same problem and spent way too much time in frustration. I finally searched with this phrase, "why does only 1 of my google calendars show up on android." Truly a longhand kind of search--every other search had provided insufficient answers.

    Mille grazie!

This didn't work for me, but I found another solution to make my shared calendar sync to Android:
Hamburger menu -> Settings -> More/All/Additional, and then I could se my shared calendar. Then I had to manually enable Sync on it, and now it shows up.

Make sure not to "clear data" just on the google calendar app but also the calendar storage. I was stuck on that for awhile
